Millions of children around the world are trapped in slavery works, depriving them of their childhood, their education and health and condemning to a life of poverty and want. This is called child labour.
Child labour is a major point of discussion in the new times age. Since after independence, there is a visual explaination about child labour which can be seen clearly at various places such as small scale industries, hotels, restaurants, and many more.

According to the recent global estimate based on data of unicef, the world bank and ILO ( International Labour Organisation) indicates that approximately 168 million children aged between 5 to 17 are engaged as child labour. Despite of studying according to the increasing rates of child slavery, the progress is far too slow. More than 100 million children will be founded as child labour by 2020. It has been also estimated that 15.5 million child domestic workers have been recorded from the worldwide in which mostly girls are often hardly visible and face many hazards.

Child Labour in India
According to the cencus 2011, the number of child labourers is in Indian are 10.1 million of which 5.6 million are boys and 4.5 millions are girls. Child trafficking is also linked to child labour and it always results in child abuse.

The main cause behind child labour practise is that many communities, particularly rural areas do not possess adequate school facilities. Even when school are sometimes available, they are too far away, difficult to reach, unaffordable or the quality of the education is so poor that parents wonder if going to school is really worthwhile. According to the 2008 study by ILO aming the most important factors driving children to harmful labour is the lack of availability and quality of schooling.
The UNICEF reports that 90% of the child labour in India is in its rural areas. And the according to the old reports the UNICEF says that about 50% of government funded primary schools that exists do not have a building, 40% lack a blackboard, few have books, 97% of funds for these publicly funded school have been budgeted by the government as salaries for the teachers and administrators.

Role of NGOs- The NGO works to ensure that existing policies are followed through the action. The NGO works with state and national level authorities, including police departments of states to prevent child exploitation incidents in states such as Punjab, Delhi, Bihar, J&K, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam, where vulnerability of children is high.
##Fighting child labour requires a multi-pronged push, and there is a need to make this a people's issue. While officials and government can only issue policies, ignoring everyday child abuse and malnourishment must also be attacked at an individual level, wherever possible, so support this cause. Every bit of help counts in the fight against issues plaguing children's lives.
